Sumario:Together with the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, adopted at the Third International Conference on Financing for Development, held in Ethiopia in July 2015, which established the global framework for development financing up to 2030, and the Paris Agreement on climate change, adopted in December 2015, the Agenda 2030 is the lodestar for efforts by all the stakeholders over the next 15 years to move towards a model of sustainable development that revolves around equality. With a view to coordinating efforts, exchanging experiences and best practices and facilitating the discussion of common goals, in May 2016 the countries of the region agreed to establish the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development, as a regional mechanism to follow up and review the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the Sustainable Development Goals and targets, its means of implementation, and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda. At the first meeting of the Forum, which will be held in Mexico City from 26 to 28 April 2017, a special session will be devoted to the means of implementation of the 2030 Agenda. The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), which is coordinating and supporting the work of the Forum as technical secretariat, seeks to contribute to the discussions that will take place at this first meeting, which it is organizing jointly with the Government of Mexico.
