Sumario:This paper aims at discussing the autonomy and specificity of a contextualized university, relating identity and power, institutional objectives and organizational dimensions. It analyzes the interpretation of different subjects and configurations that result from the Universidade Santa Cecília's institutional project as a challenge to the establishment of shared management. The paper is structured as the effects of meaning between interlocutors, in which theoretical reflection, the subjects, the historical and social context and the author constitute the meaning of the analysis and of the synthesis that is produced. The discussion of the shared organizational modes that insure the university's autonomy and specificity has converged, most especially, by associative and evaluative means, going through UNISANTA'S academic, political and administrative aspects. The paper also indicates that policies and actions that have become institutionalized may be embodied in the purposes of individuals (groups) aimed at a collective culture. Such a position indicates ethics that are anchored in equity and citizenship, and that may lead to a praxis based on mutual participation, understanding and agreement.
