Sumario: | This doctoral thesis aims to analyze flags from an interdisciplinary approach from different perspectives as protocol, vexilology and theories of communication like study of the media. This research studies the flags as symbols that represent groups, institutions or countries as well as communication tools able to convey different messages through their use. This thesis will research the treatment of information of the flags and their uses by the Spanish press and the approach used to develop this type of information. The media prepare their information from facts that generate the news as a breach of the legislation, the outrage to flags or the absence of use. Institutions and groups generate these situations in different communication scenarios to convey their messages to society. To achieve these goals, we will analyze 190 news that comprise the corpus of this thesis from different perspectives as the headlines, sections that are inserted, related information, flag contained, among others, to know the informative treatment of flags from the Spanish press. |
