Proliferation and Rooting Efficiency Studies in Sour Cherry (Prunus cerasus) Using in Vitro Techniques

Murashige and Skoog's medium (MS) and Woody plant (WP) medium supplemented with IBA and BAP at different concentrations were tested for culture proliferation in sour cherry. MS medium supplemented with 1 mg L-1 BAP + 0.1 mg L-1 IBA, and, Woody plant medium fortified with 2 mg L-1 BAP + 0.1 mg L...

Sumario:Murashige and Skoog's medium (MS) and Woody plant (WP) medium supplemented with IBA and BAP at different concentrations were tested for culture proliferation in sour cherry. MS medium supplemented with 1 mg L-1 BAP + 0.1 mg L-1 IBA, and, Woody plant medium fortified with 2 mg L-1 BAP + 0.1 mg L-1 IBA recorded maximum proliferation efficiency. MS medium supplemented with BAP @ 0.1 mg L-1 and devoid of auxin recorded optimum elongation of micro-shoots. MS medium fortified with 2 mg L-1 IBA gave highest rooting percentage and average number of roots per explant. BAP and IBA in MS medium were ideal for proliferation indices like number of shoots per explant, average length of shoots (mm) and percentage of shoots with desired length for rooting, and, can be used in a multiplication programme.
