Sumario:This research analyzes the relationship between innovation and performance regarding market impacts and costs in enterprises of the agribusiness chain in Jaboticabal-SP. There is a theoretical and empirical unexplored gap where innovation and performance at the company level, are understood within a geographical area, especially in agribusiness. Thus, it carried out two surveys with a total of 67 respondents from the farmers (37) of the region and companies geared toward agribusiness city (30). Quantitative data were treated by factor analysis and regression analysis. The results were different among the samples. The farming units concentrated their efforts in the production of sugarcane and peanuts, with high level of mechanization and innovation efforts. These efforts are pooled into three factors: Operations and Supply Management, Agricultural Technology and Pharmaceutical-Chemical Technology; the first two had significant influence on cost reduction and the last, most striking in relation to the increase in production capacity and improve product quality. For firms, it was found that there are nine different economic sectors in the city associated with agribusiness. Efforts in innovation were significant in: Internal ReD, Introduction of Technological Innovation and Human Capital, which explained, above all, the behavior of variables geared to the market.
