Because of selective mutism is a very rare disorder and it disappears over time, it did not draw attention of many mental health professionals. Early self-esteem, insecure home environment, emotional problems, and a single or a series of traumatic experiences in the past are among the causes of Selective Mutism. A solution oriented case study represented for SM which is observed on one of the twins who started kindergarten after completing 36 months, in cooperation with family, a specialist and a teacher. The target of the study is to clarify diagnosis and treatment steps. All interview observations, family interviews, and portfolio files were considered to be more dependent on the other twin and first-time close adolescents as the cause of Selective Mutism (selective discourse), and when it is not, the mood feels insecure. The outcome of regular, seven-month studies with family, specialist (child development and psychologist) and group teacher cooperation has been positive. The positive contributions of interdisciplinary work are the most important sources of the results obtained in this study.Müdriye YILDIZ BIÇAKÇIDemet ÖZER KOCAMANOĞLUŞenay ÖLMEZBetül SEVER YILMAZNeriman ARALFırat Universityarticlelanguage problems, speaking problems, selective mutism, language development in preschool periodSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 10, Iss 61, Pp 289-300 (2019)
