Sumario:The aim of present study is to examine the mediating role of family functioning in the relationship between family protective factors and wellbeing in adolescents. Sample consisted of 322 students enrolled in different high school in Isparta. Participants’ age ranged from 14 to 19, and were 57.6% female and 42.4% male students. Mean of age was 15.96 (SD = .98). Family Assessment Scale, Family Protective Factors Inventory, Satisfaction with Life Scale, Brief Stomps Inventory, and Demographic Variables Questionnaire were applied to participants as data collection instruments. To examine the relationships between variables, Person correlation analysis was used. Also the direct and indirect relationship between variables were tested with structural equation model. Results from correlation analysis indicated that there was a significant association between family protective factors, family functioning, psychological symptoms, and satisfaction with life. After examining the correlation analysis among variables, the mediating role of family functioning in the relationship between family protective factors and wellbeing was tested with structural equation analysis. To determine latent constructs, the subscales of scales were used as observed variables. Results from study indicated that family protective factors significantly predicted family functioning and wellbeing in adolescents. Furthermore, the findings from structural equation analysis showed that family functioning partially mediated in the relationship between family protective factors and wellbeing. Findings of study were discussed in light of literature and some suggestions were presented.
