Sumario: | It is a known fact that the mosques, one of the most distinctive symbols of Islam, have used for many different purposes. There are historical evidences showing that they have been used for political, military, educational, administrative and many other temporary purposes besides their main purpose which is, of course, worshiping. These varying functions emerged with the need, and ended naturally when these needs vanish. But the Quran and acts of the Holy Prophet emphasize that being education centers is an inevitable part of the mosques. The unity of worshiping and education was well understood and applied in the past unlike today. The downgrading of mosques to just temples, causes waste of facilities and trained human resources. And all these move the mosques away from their missions day by day. |
