Sumario:This paper aims to analyse the process of professional Social Workers formation. It also aims to show the Brazilian University Education reality as well as the process of mercantilization in this level of teaching since the decade of 1990, in which, in a setorial world-wide context Social Policies reformulation took place. Such an analysis was developed from the gathering of the available data in the National Institute of Educational Researches (INEP/MEC), connecting them with bibliographical studies that enhance the themes: educational policies and Social Work.
