The study group consisted of 73 5th grade primary school students was identified via maximal variation sampling a purposefull sampling strategy in qualitative inquiry approach. The data of the study were collected through a study sheet including five open ended questions germane to the cartoon. The results showed that almost all the students perceived the right message in the cartoon. Most of the students stated that the man in the cartoon fell from affection, mercy and zoolatry. Moreover, about half of the students depicted that they would have restrained the man from swatting, if they were there. Finally, findings manifested taht the man in the cartoon cannot describe the word mercy and that this word is trivia for him.
