Sumario:This article studies the problems between the film producers and movie theater operators as important distribution channels in Turkey. There have been always problems between film producers and distributors at the Turkish film sector,that is more than 100 years old. Movie theater operators are continuous trouble makers. Famous directors postponed the screening of their new films and this situation had it’s place and discussion at the Turkish media. The discussions attracted attention of the state during the preparation of the new cinema law. There is not a well-established Turkish film industry at all. Because of the high costs of film production in Turkey, it is very important for film producers to screen their films at the movie theaters. In the last month of 2018 the discussions started between the movie theater owners and producers and the press coverage shows that there is not any transparency and a good legal infrastructure in the sector itself. The producers complaining about their non-increasing income for the last 5 years, declared that they will not screen their films till the problem is solved.The producers met the government and criticized the increasing prices of the tickets and proposed and realized an addition to the regulation stopping the selling of food and beverage with the tickets as promotion in 2019. Nevertheless all the limitations to the promotion campaigns can increase the ticket prices and reduce the number of the audience. There is a need for cooperation between the producers and distribution channels to continue a conscious growth in the sector.
