Sumario:In this article, we seek to analyse some of the dimensions of the process of “adaptation” of the short story “Beco-do-mijo”, written by Acrean writer Florentina Esteves, into the eponymous theatre representation by the Grupo Beco. The main focus is describing, and opening a debate on, the texts moulded during the process of character creation, constituted via texts/scenes produced during readings, translations, creation, re-creation, transcriptions of the original literary text. The practice of reading and familiarising with scholars and critics contributed to the configuration of the research object, and was of fundamental importance in order to define the research outcomes. The emphasis was put on the production of the characters and of their bodies, as well as the temporal and spatial dimension of the scenes and of their texts/acts in different phases.
