RESUMO:O presente artigo tem por objetivo levantar uma discussão acerca das aguardentes – a da terra e a do reino – suas distinções, nomenclaturas e empregos medicinais na região das Minas setecentistas, a partir do Erário Mineral, do cirurgião português Luís Gomes Ferreira. Pretende-se discutir como o cirurgião português define, distingue a forma de produção e recomenda o uso ou a condenação da aguardente do reino e da terra, além da cachaça. Em seguida, pretende-se observar como as práticas cotidianas dos moradores locais, que podem ser remontadas por documentação cartorial, refletiram as concepções distintas em relação ao emprego dessa bebida como remédio medicinal.

ABSTRACT: This article aims to raise a discussion about brandies - the land and the kingdom - its distinctions, classifications and medical uses in eighteenth century Minas, from the Erário Mineral, the portuguese surgeon Luís Gomes Ferreira. It is intended to discuss how the Portuguese surgeon defines, distinguishes it production process and recommends the use or condemnation of the spirits of the kingdom and land, as well as cachaça. Then, we intend to observe how the daily practices of the local residents, which can be reassembled by notarial documentation, reflected the different views regarding the use of this drink as a medicinal remedy.
