Adopting Cultural Studies (HALL, 2003; WILLIAMS, 1979) as a theoretical-methodological framework, language is perceived as a terrain of struggle. In this sense, in dialogue with the transcribed short stories and songs by Luiz Mendes - oral document produced according to the methodology of Oral History (PORTELLI, 2010); looking through the lenses of diversity poetics (GLIS-SANT, 2005), resistance repertoires (HALL, 2003), Ayahuasca epistemology (ALBUQUERQUE, 2011) - the aim is to revisit aspects of the “daimist culture” lived, remembered, proclaimed by the Mestre’s speaker Irineu; to make echoes of these poetics of the voice / oral daimist / ayahuasqueira / amazonian literature and of the other epistemology that permeates it; bring up oral and written translations / representations of knowledge / practices that subvert hegemonic patterns and can contribute to the decolonization of minds.
