Some of these phonetic events are about shortening of long vowels or their presence. Although some of others are seen in words with long vowels, it is about inclination of generaly phonetics and specially of general phonetic events in Turkish. In this essay only the phonetic events which form dependent to long vowels take place. The first evaluation claiming a relation between shortening of long vowels and some phonetic events is made by Lagos Ligeti. Ligeti associates vocalization of some consonants and shortening of long vowels from the point of examples of AT *aç > ac; AT * ot ‘od, ateş’ > od. Then, lots of works have been made about the subject. Studied on this subject,, Talat Tekin associates shortening of long vowels with vocalization of consonants, epenthesis of y-, v, h-in front sound, consonant twinning, vowel epenthesis, consonant epenthesis, frontflexion and vowel twinning. This association is the basis for article. In this article, it will be discussed whether there are any relations of vocalization of consonants, epenthesis of y-, v, h-in front sound, consonant twinning, vowel epenthesis, consonant epenthesis, frontflexion and vowel twinning with the amount of long vowels or not in Historical Turkish dialects.Fatih ÖZEKFırat Universityarticleturkishhistorical turkish dialectsphoneticslong vowelphonetic eventsSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 6, Iss 19, Pp 649-666 (2019)
