For this reason, organizations need the commitment of employees/members and in order to get this commitment they use various methods. Organizational commitment is defined as a physiological condition which shapes the communication of the members with their organization and whether they stay in or quit from the organization. By the help of this definition, we can say that organizational commitment is an intangible connection the members feel and that is beyond tangible expectations. We can say that by the help of a highly achieved organizational commitment, not only a well-qualified educational process but also a more democratic and modernized society can be created. This study aims at presenting the organizational commitment in schools based on teachers’ opinions. As a research model descriptive survey has been used. 3283 teachers from 76 state schools and 116 teachers from 4 private schools in the period of 2011-2012 education year constitute the universe of the study. The sample of the study is constituted of 728 teachers who are chosen from this universe by cluster sampling method. As a result of the study, findings have shown that there is a significant difference between the state and private school teachers’ opinions on total. The level of organizational commitment in private schools is higher when compared to state schools. In both school types, males have a higher commitment level than women. Pre-licenced teachers feel more commitment towards their school than university graduates and master degree graduates. Teachers who have 21 or more years of experience have the highest commitment level among the others.Mahire ASLANAslı AĞIROĞLU BAKIRFırat Universityarticleorganizational commitmentstate schoolprivate schoolSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 7, Iss 24, Pp 189-206 (2019) |
