Sumario: | Sustainable development, including the consumption of sustainable food, is an issue that is receiving increasing attention in research and policy construction. Thus, complex policies are being created to address these issues, targeting economic, social, and environmental factors. This study aims to provide a macroeconomic overview of the factors that have the potential to influence fruit consumption at a national level, so that proposals can be offered in order to pursue a more sustainable fruit consumption in Romania. In order to carry out the research, two approaches were used: a bibliometric technique, through which the Scopus and Web of Science publications on the supply and consumption of fruits were analyzed, and an econometric approach, through which some of the macroeconomic factors influencing fruit consumption in Romania were identified and assessed. The study highlights the high interest of worldwide researchers in the field and an upward trend in Romanian fruit consumption. |
