| Sumario: | Today there is a need for improvement on the strategic planning in universities, in particular the need to consider the growing competition between World Class Universities for resources and positions in any of the various national and international rankings that exist today. In this perspective, this paper aims to discuss strategic planning in universities while considering the special case of UNICAMP, now seen as but one of the best universities in Brazil. The paper presents an overview of the subject, presents the case of UNICAMP and its information system in use, presents the needs of a new management model and, finally, proposes a new model that seeks to encompass the features now seen as essential to systems dedicated to strategic planning. The text also discusses future trends that tend to affect the reality of World Class Universities in relation to information systems aimed at strategic planning. |
