Sumario:The relevance of the research of the situation of child rearing with disabilities is considered from the position of a medical and social approach, despite the fact that this problem is of great psychological importance. The birth of a child with developmental disorders, the diagnosis is a strong psychotraumatic experience for the family, its structural transformations. In this regard, in order to cope with the current circumstances, parents use destructive or constructive forms of behavior, they form personal traits that allow them to cope with constant stress. The novelty of the study consists in conducting a comparative assessment of the personal characteristics of parents, evaluating their use of psychological defense mechanisms, analyzing psychotraumatic situations and unfavorable objective and subjective factors that affect the formation of personal changes. According to the results of the study, parents raising children with disabilities found: a high level of situational and personal anxiety, the use of the mechanism of psychological protection-reactive formations. Purpose. The article is devoted to the research of the personal characteristics of parents raising disabled children under the influence of objective and subjective factors. The purpose of the research is to analyze these features. Methodology. The research is based on clinical and psychological, psychodiagnostic methods, as well as descriptive and comparative statistics. Results. The results of the work are that parents raising children with developmental disabilities, compared with parents raising healthy children, showed a high level of situational anxiety, increased feelings of guilt and depression, and the use of such a mechanism of psychological defense as reactive formations. Practical implications. The research results can be applied in the field of rehabilitation measures and the provision of psychological support to parents raising disabled children.
