Sumario:This article’s goal is to analyze the state public policies for the cooperativism in the State of Tocantins, established by the Secretary of Agriculture and Livestock, in the meantime between January 1st, 1989 and the approval of the state law of cooperativism in June 11th, 2012. The evaluation was performed by qualitative performance of state public policies of cooperativism based on the perception of the cooperative directors and public managers of Tocantins, using the criterion of Efficiency, Efficacy, Effectiveness and Impact. The method used was documentary and bibliographic investigation, and field study executed by historic study delimited in the States of Goiás and Tocantins. The research is classified as exploratory and descriptive and the tool used was a questionnaire with open questions, applied personally and by electronic communication. The main results of the investigation were: the “Milkmaid Basin Program” happened between 1998 and 2004, the goal was to constitute 25 cooperatives in 25 municipalities with 35 associates and to benefit 875 farmers, currently 1 cooperative coming from this politic is in operation and it counts with 20 cooperativists; and the Project of Creation of Cooperatives of Rural Credit that worked from 1999 to 2001, had as goal the constitution of 35 cooperatives and to serve 735 small farmers, 6 being constituted, currently 3 are working.
