Despite the significant discrepancies in the interpretation of the concept of «quality of life», most authors agree that the defining components of this concept are the health status and satisfaction with the individual's own life. In the study of problems of the quality of life of students in the form of the original definition was accepted definition of quality of life as a phenomenon that entails psycho-physiological and physical health of man, his spiritual and cultural values, the level of civilization of a society and its economic development. The article presents the results of the hygienic assessment of students' quality of life, which suggest the applicability of both objective and subjective characteristics of life quality in studies. It is associated with the dynamics of life quality indicators, the changeability of the influencing factors, and the necessity of regular monitoring of life quality indicators and factors supposed to be focal in its formation. Basing on the material obtained in the course of the experimental work, the authors formulate the fundamental principles of the comprehensive approach to the hygienic assessment of quality of life. This concept, in contrast to the WHO concept of quality of life assessment in clinical medicine, based on four principles: multi-dimensionality, the change indicators over time, the active participation of the individual in the assessment of their condition, a comparison of subjective assessments with objective measures.N.
