Sumario:Abstract The additive Biosprint® is a microbiological feed additive containing cells of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The applicant has requested the re‐evaluation of the product when used as a zootechnical additive (functional group: gut flora stabilisers) in diets for cattle for fattening at a minimum dose of 4 × 109 and a maximum dose of 9 × 109 CFU/kg complete feedingstuffs. As the last assessment of the safety of Biosprint® was performed in 2010, the FEEDAP Panel did not consider a re‐assessment of the safety necessary. Only two of the six efficacy studies with cattle for fattening could be considered due to significant weaknesses in the experimental design in the other four. In only one study there was evidence of a significant benefit in weight gain. Therefore, the FEEDAP Panel was unable to conclude on the efficacy of Biosprint® when used in feed for cattle for fattening.
