| Sumario: | Public-private partnerships (PPPs) are increasingly being seen as the answer to solve the wide gap in municipal solid waste management (MSWM) service delivery in developing countries. However, not much emphasis has been given to the requirements for successfully implementing them. This paper attempts to identify a set of critical success factors (CSFs), which considered, would increase the chances of success in PPP MSWM projects in India. Seventeen perceived CSFs were identified from secondary sources and validated through sectoral experts. Questionnaire survey was then administered to public sector and private sector respondents involved in the managerial aspects of MSWM through PPP mode. Results suggest similarities in CSFs for PPP projects irrespective of sector and geographical locations. Also, Public sector and Private sector share a common perception of PPP success factors in MSWM except for a few factors. The research can help practitioners to identify key focus areas in MSWM PPP projects. |
