Sumario:With this study, method of field study has been used in the research conducted in order to find out the news value conception of Turkish journalists and the factors that influence these conceptions. In the research, questionnaire technique has been preferred as a data collection tool. The norms regarding this field have been determined through literature search and consulting an opinion expert for the characteristic of the conception of news value to be determined. Prepared questionnaire form is consisted of two parts. In the first part, there are questions regarding the determination of demographic features; in the second part, there are questions regarding measuring the factors that influence the conception of news value. The data acquired through the method of field research has been analyzed with IBM SPSS.19 software. The sample of the study has been comprised of 181 journalists such as news reporters, photojournalist, cameraman and news center directors, who have been all selected randomly, knowing that they are all working in Ankara bureau of media organs making national broadcast. The research, conducted in June 2012, has included 19 TV channels, 9 newspapers and 3 news agencies. Descriptive statistics have been used in the examination of the demographic features of the media employees and in the evaluation of the factors that influence the conception of news value. As the descriptive statistics are evaluated, respectively, Journalism education that media employees have received, reader’s tendency, supervisors and news sources are “highly” affecting the conception of the news value. The relations between the factors influencing the news value conception of the media employees and demographic features have been examined through using Non-linear Canonic Correlation Analysis. As a result of the research, positive oriented and a high level of relation has been found out between the criterion of news evaluation and demographic factors. “Friends in Staff” from the factors affecting the news value of the journalists and “Mission Type” from demographic factors have been identified as the most important factors in the evaluation of the relation between the criterion of news evaluation and demographic factors.
