The main aim of this study is to reveal the negative effects of land use occurring during the development of the city and present solutions for them. For this, satellite images of Kastamonu belonging to 1985 and 2018 have been examined by remote sensing techniques. The data obtained as a result of the method of controlled classification have been interpreted by translating it into thematic maps in CBS GIS environment. According to the findings obtained in the research; the city of Kastamonu has been expanded in scope over a period of 30 years and has reached 1235 hectares from 531 hectares. The expansion has been generally towards the north of the city. Forest areas are another class of land that undergoes significant expansion. The most declined land class in the research area is the non-irrigated agricultural areas. The fact that a significant portion of the agricultural areas are in the direction of the expansion of the city has caused these areas to be used out of purpose in time. If the city continues to expand, it is likely that there will be a decline especially in agriculture and forest areas. In order to prevent this situation, necessary arrangements should be made in the zoning plans. In addition, accelerating urban transformation projects in Kastamonu is considered to be the top priority solution in order to prevent misuse of the land.Fatih AYDINHakan AKDAĞFırat Universityarticlekastamonu cityland usegeographical information systemsremote sensingtemporal change in land useSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 12, Iss 74, Pp 13-31 (2020) |
