Description
Résumé:Drought is a climatic variation present in the semiarid region and as it is continuous some emergencial actions had to be taken by the government, among them, the irrigation projects allowed the expansion of regional profitability and improved the population's quality of life. One of these projects was the Irrigated Perimeters, which aimed to redistribute water from large rivers to the backlands, transforming backlanders in small and medium entrepreneurs and expand agribusiness. This study aimed to diagnose if sustainability, from the perspective of the Triple Bottom Line as proposed by Elkington (2012), was achieved in the Irrigated Perimeters implemented in Jaguaribe-Apodi, Morada Nova and Tabuleiros de Russas, in the Ceará semiarid region. Through a qualitative research using content analysis and a qualitative research using correlational analysis, it was found that the region lacks some standards that define sustainability and it is also facing another government action that may bring a new emergency action.
