Summary:After short introduction, the regulatory instruments aiming at greenhouse gasses reduction at the national and EC level are outlined. Attention is devoted to the EU emission trading scheme along with greenhouse gasses emission limitation and national allocation plans, joint implementation and clean development mechanisms, best available technology requirements, regulation of hydrofluorocarbons, energy efficiency and renewable sources of energy promotion and enforcement measures. Benefits and shortcomings of these instruments at the national level, particularly in the Czech Republic, are indicated.
