This article aims to analyze the animated film “Over the Hedge”, with regard to sustainability, supporting the interaction between animals, which lost part of its forest habitat due to construction of a residential condominium; and humans, residents of this property. For the analysis, there was observational study supported the filmic language, a qualitative approach based on the concept of sustainability. An outcome of the analysis, it appears that on search for individual-environment harmony, sustainable development is presented as a process of change in which the exploitation of resources, the direction of investments, the orientation of technological development and institutional change can be in harmony when it reinforces the current and future potential to meet human needs and aspiration. For the future, it is suggested that the issue be discussed in a non common place, and a task not reached by that article. It is believed that environmental education can process the development of sustainable and not the reverse.
