State regulation plays an important role in the development of agriculture both at the regional level and at the level of the whole country. State support is especially important in the current conditions of economic sanctions and restrictions imposed by Western countries. This article identifies the priority areas of state support for the agricultural sector in the region. It is the targeted orientation of state regulation of agricultural enterprises that will help achieve the targets for the implementation of the Food Security Doctrine not only in Penza region, but also in the whole country. Materials and methods. The implementation of the research tasks was achieved on the basis of the analysis of the planned and forecast documents on the tasks of agricultural development. Statistical data on the main indicators of the implementation of programs for the development of the agricultural sector of the Penza region were studied. The article analyzes the works of R.R. Yunyaeva, N.I. Panov, V.D. Kozlov and other authors who study the topic of state support of the agricultural and industrial complex. Results. The author studies and identifies a set of individual tasks that most urgently need support and solution from the state in the field of agriculture, taking into account the current economic situation. The main principles of the state policy of regulating the agricultural and industrial complex of Penza region in modern conditions are revealed. Conclusions. To ensure optimal support for the development of the agricultural and industrial complex of the region from the authorities, it is necessary to continue the implementation of measures for the branches of the agricultural and industrial complex with a mandatory subsequent analysis of the effectiveness of their implementation, and to supplement the measures that were not included at the planning stage of measures for the development of the agricultural and industrial complex of Penza region.R.R.
