Sumario:Malkoçoğlu Mehmet Bey Tomb located in Gebze/İzmit and was built in 1385. It has baldaquin plan and it was built by using of alternating texture of the wall with the use of spolia material. The first photo of this structure is taken in 1920’s. This photo shows only tomb’s supporting system and could not give any evidence of top cover. Restitution recommendations about this tomb were made by Hasan Zeki Ergezen, Ekrem Hakkı Ayverdi, Orhan Cezmi Tuncer and Cahide Tamer who researched this tomb, could not find precise conclusion regarding the structure and its top cover. The dome and tomb’s top cover was closed by the result of the decision made by the supervisory council in 1970-1975. The undetectable top cover of the structure and its problematic architecture was discussed in the restoration project in 2011 and the question of how the original architecture of the tomb was asked again and lightened by us. In this paper, tomb’s problematic top cover and controversial tomb feature was explained according to Ottoman architecture. Also structure’s facade, inscribed stone panel and its construction features were investigated.
