Sumario:The expansion of the distance education has generated debates about the quality of teaching and education, which refers to teacher training. The official documents that deal with distance education, by emphasizing the forming of quality, consider that, in the pedagogical dynamic of remote education, the teacher is an indispensable element for the success of learning and as such, must be well prepared, assimilate technologies without being limited to technicality. This paper brings to discussion issues related to distance education, assuming that the university space is the free space for knowledge production, therefore, the understanding of distance education as a social and political practice which enables the development of the student autonomy becomes crucial. This present article deals with such issues, based on the results from surveys conducted with teachers who teach in remote college courses and has the objective of reflecting on the training that involves the logic of the competences. The results point out the challenges experienced by the trainers and the redirection given to the issues covering competences, considered in official documents as a nuclear conception of qualification, in the critical perspective to revitalize the understanding of the teaching in the qualification processes.
