| Sumario: | In this study, Evangelical School, which provided education with the Protestant identity under the British Government protection is analyzed. Thanks to the efforts of founder Pantaleon Sevastopoulos the school, which is also a minority school, obtained British protection. Of the institution’s educational activities, officially opening and the changes that occur after the founder’s legacy was focused on in the article. The branches opened in various places of Izmir (Smyrna) and the other details; including student’s numbers, staff and curriculum are discussed, as the school got and the number of students increased. Furthermore, the library and the museum, including many valuable books, historical works of art are described in details reflectiving quality of institution. The effects and results of First World War and The Great Fire of Smyrna (September 1922) on the Evangelical School are analyzed. |
