Sumario:Narrow casting and media accessibility are issues that have gained importance in the 21st century due to multiple factors such as the increase in social awareness, the dissemination of and developments in technology, the signing of international conventions such as the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the rise in the number and influence of NGO’s and associations. In parallel with these developments, different modes and types of translation have been developed and studied within the scope of Translation Studies and examples of such can also be found in Turkey. But, relatively subjects such as audio description, sign language interpreting for AVT, SDH receive less attention from translation scholars in Turkey and examples of such AV products with these types of translation are also relatively few. Such endeavors can only be encouraged with the raising of awareness and the flow of information. The following article is an attempt to explain and exemplify such types of AVT with special emphasis on audio description in an effort to provide some guidelines and suggestions for the implementation of AVT courses entailing these types of translation at Turkish universities.
