Description
Summary:The body is an essential component of tourism. How do travel guides talk about it? How are the tourists’ bodies presented, represented, evoked if not suggested in these books? What is said about them but also, what is silenced? This paper aims to bring some answers to these questions by using a semio-discursive analysis of short trip travel guides to New York. It shows the importance of the reader’s body in tourism, and qualifies the traveler's body by distinguishing between the body of the senses and the body of movement in order to study the relationship that links the two.
