Besides this, it can be used to determin the misconceptions of students. At the present time, one of the most important aim of Social Studies education is to educate knowledgeable, skillful active citizens for society. In this context like many other countries, in our contry it is discussing wheter the social studies lessons educate enough or not the students about citizenship information concepts. The aim of this study is to determine the misconceptions about citizenship knowledge concepts of the 5th grade students with mind mapping tecnique. The working group involve 32 students. In the study, students made mind maps about 4 title which contains “Right”, “Responsibility”, “Culture and National Culture”, “Ataturk Principles and Reforms”. After that, interviewed with students about these mind maps. Results showed that some students had misconceptions about citizenship knowledge. The most important reason is citizenship knowledge contains abstract concepts.
