These structures with their small-medium and large capacity and other elements, have been the subject of a significant diversity not only in terms of architecture, but also with their personnel. Of course, the subject matter about this diversity does not only concern garrison quantities. In addition to a functional difference, it is obvious that these personnel are subject to a distinction in terms of how they paid. This study was revealed as a result of the examination of Timar Ruznâmçe registrations and other retail documents in the archives. For this reason the focus of the study is the people inside rather than fortress’, who earn their income from the timars. Obtaining revenues from timars is a problem in direct proportion to geography. Thus the Ottomans formed these structures in the place where the military’s pulse beat.  The prominence of geography and the aforementioned salary intake is an issue that has directly effected to the forts. However, although the study directly concerns the fortress personnel, both the soldiers and forts took their share from working in different lands. Therefore, it has been tried to draw attention to the geographical conditions when both elements, namely forts and the people living in them, are mentioned.Okan GÜVENFırat Universityarticlebosnia, herzegovina, ottoman forts, 17th century, timarholder staff of fortsSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 14, Iss 86, Pp 501-514 (2021)
