It draws a sketch of the journal’s history main landmarks, which can be neatly divided in two divergent periods with different editorial boards. The foreword describes also the particularities of the everyday editorial business under the circumstances of the publisher’s residence in Shanghai and the editorial board members’ habitation in Paris.
