Sumario:In this study, the main purpose is examination of the outdoor activity concept’s meaning in classroom teacher candidates’ mind and related metaphors that developed by the classroom teacher candidates are researched. To this research, 127 teacher candidates who are studying as seniors in Bayburt University Faculty of Education, Primary School Department, Classroom Teacher Education Program participated. While collecting data, an open ended question form is developed by researchers and teacher candidates asked to complete the sentence ‘Outdoor activity is like that ………………………..; because ……………………..’ Descriptive statistics and content analysis technique is used while analyzing the collected data. At the end of the study; it is seen that teacher candidates produced 75 metaphors related with outdoor activity concept and categories are formed like ‘basic needs, persistency, a road to life, a confusing process, integrity of relief and social activities. In basic needs category, metaphors like vital needs and love; in persistency category, metaphors like permanent learning and prize; in road to life category , metaphors like reaching independence and being social ; in a confusing process category, metaphors like jigsaw and time; in relief category, themes like breathing and break times; in integrity of social activities category, themes like sport, art and travel organizations are seen to be mentioned. As a result, it came out that teacher candidates’ perceptions about outdoor activities are positive in general but their suggestions about possible activities are the same. The classroom teacher candidates stated that activities that they do along their education life and they suggest should be completely related with real life.
