This article aims to provide elements to understand the relationship of communities with the páramos and their role in the protection of these ecosystems. This work focuses on alternative systems of water services provision in the páramos of Bogotá, the country's capital. Through a case study, this work shows that some of these systems are community-based, environmentally compatible and sustainable in the long term.
