Sumario:Throughout history, epidemics have affected every segment of society and made it necessary for individuals to adapt to new life styles. The obligation of quarantine, which is applied to prevent the spread of epidemics, has created a very productive period, especially for some artistic personages. The quarantine period has given many artists the opportunity to go on an inner journey, as well as to obtain the conditions they need to realize their talent. Factors such as loneliness, being away from the community, having enough free time for literary works can turn the quarantine process into a productive art period. One of the leading examples of this is the quarantine process that Pushkin had to undergo in Boldino during the cholera epidemic in Russia in 1830. Pushkin, who could not return to Moscow for about three months in the fall of 1830, lived alone away from his fiancé, family and friends at that time. The only way of communication with his beloveds was correspondence. Moreover, autumn was his favourite and most productive season. Indeed, Boldino was the place where he wrote many of his works and therefore was accepted as "First Boldino Autumn" (Boldinskaya Osen’) in the history of Russian literature. The efficiency of the quarantine process, which is fed by the Boldino Autumn period, a period that is accepted as the culmination of Pushkin's creativity, is emphasized today with the words "Any quarantine may result in a Boldino Autumn". This study will firstly deal with the life style of Pushkin during the period concerned, and then analyse the effect of the quarantine process on his art life by means of elaborating on the writer's thoughts about quarantine through his letters.
