Sumario:In addition to being a tool which exchanges information between people and a sign system which renders the world around them, language has an important misson to give people the idea of unity. Thereby, language seems to be an important argument both for an individual and for group of people who speak the same language to establish self-identity among other individuals/groups. Because language determines the identity of speakers with the help of the concept of uniformness, identifiability, discriminablility, shareability. By a cencus in 2002 and 2010, the population and the structure of population has been examined in Russian Federation. In the census which evaluate the regions separately, all ethnic groups was determined and the rate of ethnic population to general population was given. Also the number of languages in use were figured out. In this study, relation between language and identity will be addressed and the cencus done by Russian Federation in 2002 and 2010 will be analyzed. Also, Turkish identity and the situation of Turkish dialect speakers will be presented.
