Sumario: | The emotions such as excitement, fear, stress that the language learner experiences affect language learning negatively. These factors either slow down or hinder language learning. In order to decrease or remove the negative effects of anxiety on learning, the question of whether emotional strategies could be used as an effective stategy has led us to do such a research. The subjects of the study were the students in the French Language Department in Education Faculty at Ondokuz Mayıs Univesity. The data were obtained through two scales, one of which was Horwit’s scale of anxiety in language learning, and the other of which was the researcher’s own scale of emotional strategies in language learning. The results have shown that anxiety has a direct influence on emotional learning strategies. It has been found that the anxiety levels of the low-level learners of French are higher than those of the other students, and also that the anxiety levels of the learners with no experience of being with native speakers of French are higher than those of the other students. The results have also shown that the levels of using emotional learning strategies of female students are higher that those of male students. |
