Sumario:Namik Kemal is one of the important figures of Turkish intellectual world of thought of 19th century. Apart from the fact that he was able to express himself with literary works, he was also able to express his ideas through treatises. In all his works, he mentions lots of subjects from literature to economy, politics to education, law to history. Furthermore, the subjects of his works are generally related with politics and focus point of those works is Ottoman Empire. While writing about social, political, and economic problems of Ottoman Empire, he also produced solutions to those problems in light of his own ideas. Besides, an important one of the topics that he had worked on was Eastern Question and some other problems that are related with it. Actually, 1866-1869 Crete Rebellion and Crete Issue may be counted as one of those side-problems. Also, both approaches of great powers to the rebellion and Ottoman Empire's Crete policy showed us how Namik Kemal did an important work by approaching to the topic within the context of Eastern Question. In this paper, we will try to analyze 1866 - 1869 Crete Rebellion and other political developments with related to the rebellion with the help of anecdotes from Namik Kemal.
