Sumario:Relations between state, market and communication form the core of this article. Its purpose is to analyze the participation of media conglomerates in the focus of contemporary capitalist accumulation. The dialectical method is used to explore the conflict between domination and resistance, advances and retreats in the movement of forces and political projects that interfere in the formulation of directives in the field of communication in Brazil. Through a bibliographical and documentary review, the Political Economy of Communication, Gramsci’s formulations and Latin American Cultural Studies are taken as references. The dialogue between these aspects allows us to place communication in the focus of reproduction, but points to democratization, taking as a time frame the practices of trade union and alternative communication in the Military District and its re-significances in the transition between analog and digital media.
