Sumario:The present study describes and analyses the process of organizational strategy adaptation of a metal-mechanicindustry in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, during the period between 1976-2000. In general manner, weundestand the process of strategy adaptation, showing up the strategies changes accured during the mentionedperiod, how its developed and what contextual factors internal and external caused these changes. In terms ofthe applied methodology, its a manner of a study of a singular case, it fits in the characteristics of contextualistand qualitative approach. At the same time it had a qualitative character (Triviños, 1987) and contextualist(Pettigrew, 1992). It also used the longitudenal and analysis when it adapted the proceedere of direct research(Mintzberg; McHugh, 1985).
