The results and conclusions of the research indicate significant differences between the local development models. The municipality of Itaguaí – RJ, located in the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro, receives megaprojects. According to the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan), considering its concentration in this unit of the Brazilian federation, it is the largest volume of world investment, thus presenting an intensive logic in capital and marketcentric. There is in this case a dispossession, as the situation of Madeira Island, where the colony of fishermen experiencing environmental problems that negatively impact fishing and even the maintenance of their homes on site. The case of Imbabura Province, Ecuador, seeks to rescue the local identity and knowledge in their development process. The Imbabura model in Ecuador is based on the rescue of local knowledge, plus the value of specific assets of the territory and the pursuit of citizen participation. |
