| Sumario: | Nowadays, the connection between global sustainability dilemmas and local actions stands as a key challenge. This study explores this issue by analyzing a recent experience of assessing the degree of municipal sustainability: the Indicator System for Sustainable Development of Santa Catarina Municipalities (SIDMS). The article examines the strategies adopted, highlighting the advances and difficulties in the deployment of the system and presents a summary of the main results, with a panoramic analysis of the degree of sustainability of Santa Catarina municipalities. As a main conclusion, the study shows a state picture composed by islands of dynamism and several areas of precarious development, in which there is a risk to consolidate the model of exclusion observed in certain regions of Brazil. |
