He was born and died in Örenik village, Divriği district, Sivas. His real name was İbrahim and his bloodline continues in that village. While choosing penname, he added the word “üstadım” to the beginning of the name of a well-respected Alevi-Bektaşi poet Kul Himmet, who had lived approximately two hundred years before him. Because of the similar pennames, two poets´ poems had been confused; but after the studies of İbrahim Arslanoğlu, it was determined that there were two different poets whose pennames were similar. It is also mentioned in the resources of the poems included in this study that the poems are registered with the name of Kul Himmet. This study includes seven poems of Kul Himmet Üstadım, whose various poems were published before. While three of these poems were published, four of them weren’t. As the differences between the published ones in periodicals are taken into consideration, it is determined to use all of them in this article. Four of the poems are in a periodical while three of them are in two cönk in National Library. Poems vary between verses and two verses and eleven syllabic meters is used. Syllabic meter is not coherent in some lines. Poems deal with ideas of Alevî-Bektaşî belief and it is seen that the prominent issues used in the poems are the love and faith for twelve imams, primarily Hz. Muhammed, Hz. Ali, Hz. Fatıma, Hz. Hasan, Hz. Hüseyin, humanitarian and religious values, significance of following sect leader, entertaining guests, virtues of patience, praise and pray. The poems are written with a simple language and an intimate style, idioms and words that are archaic in terms of modern times are used.Hasan KAYAFırat Universityarticlekul himmet üstadım, alevîbektaşî literature, periodical, cönk (magazine)Social SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 8, Iss 37, Pp 173-184 (2019)
