Sumario: | As a result of increased globalization at the end of the 20th century, the international circulation of architects is becoming an inseparable condition of representations, professional practices, and individual trajectories. This article is based on the results of research dedicated to the contemporary internationalization of architects (2013-2017). It first focuses on the representations of internationalization held by graduates of the National Schools of Architecture (ENSA) in France, and then presents a typology of architects' profiles who access various activities abroad. Finally, it describes a diversification of professional practices accentuated by their international deployment. The main tools of analysis are a questionnaire survey and semi-directive interviews conducted with practitioners, students, and institutions. They reveal that departures and circulations are mainly linked to life trajectories, to the desire to assume a social role, and to the need for personal fulfillment. |
