Sumario:Every year, a large number of people in the world are forced to leave their country of origin for various reasons. In this context, especially in recent years, despite the arrival of thousands of refugees in Turkey due to the civil war in Syria, it has been shown to a limited number of studies that dealt with the attitudes towards refugees. In this study, in order to determine the precursors of negative attitudes towards Syrian refugees, the relations of these tufts with variables such as hostile attribution bias, parental education and whether or not they know refugees are examined. For this purpose, 276 undergraduate students (126 female and 150 male) aged between 18-32 years were included in the study. The Attitude Scale towards the Syrian Refugees and the Hostile Attribution Bias Scale were used in the study. Hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to examine the variables predicting the attitude towards Syrian refugees. As a result, it was seen that the mother's education level and the status of being acquainted with refugees and attributing hostile intent positively predicted negative attitudes towards Syrian refugees. Findings revealed that the lack of familiarity of refugees in the negative attitude towards Syrian refugees, the tendency to impose hostile attribution bias and the level of mother education are important determinants. The results are discussed in the context of the relevant literature.
